The plot of the film really requires that transformation. The film tells the story of a boxer under the guidance of a dubious trainer, the athlete is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. He is racing against time to lose the required number of kilos before the match, despite the fact that such a loss threatens his life.

And so Bloom had to lose weight along with his figure. “Over the course of three months, I basically cut back on food until just before the shoot, when I was at my lightest. I lost 23 kilos and when I started I was about 84,” the actor revealed. “So I lost quite a bit of weight, which was also a mental challenge. If you feed someone tuna and cucumber for long enough…” he revealed what he’s been eating in recent months.

Precisely because such weight loss is mentally demanding, the film was shot in reverse chronological order. This means that in the film the boxer is desperately trying to get down to a lower weight class, but in real life Bloom gained weight during filming.

“It would be impossible for him to work on a diet. So the lightest one came to us and then started eating. So it meant that we had to shoot the end of the film first and the beginning of the film last. During the 25 days we were shooting, he added calories. And then it’s cut in reverse,” director Sean Ellis revealed, explaining why Bloom couldn’t even film while on such a demanding diet.

Viewers in Toronto could already see the film. And rather than boxing roughhouse, expect body horror. It is said that people fainted during the screening.
