FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Robin Jansson scored the goal that helped Orlando City salvage a 1-1 draw at the New England Revolution on Wednesday to move them one step closer in the Eastern Conference.
Jansson scored in the 35th minute with a shot that went between the legs of Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Carles Gil had opened the scoring with a stupendous shot from outside the box to beat Peruvian goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, who then made a couple of key saves to preserve equality. The Spanish Gil reached four goals in the season.
Orlando reached 22 points, making it fifth in the Eastern Conference, with two more than the Revolution, located in sixth place and also in the playoff zone.
The meeting marked the farewell of Adam Buksa, who leaves the ranks of the Revolution to join Lens in France.
The Revolution will face Minnesota United at home on Sunday, while Orlando takes on the Houston Dynamo on Saturday.
