Orlandi: ‘only echoes of the press’ on Ratzinger’s table

(ANSA) – VATICAN CITY, MARCH 19 – On Benedict XVI’s desk there was a file on Emanuela Orlandi but it was only press cuttings. This was reported by the Prefect of the Vatican Archives, Monsignor Sergio Pagano, who reiterates that in the archive itself “there is not a single line”. And if there are no real files “they can’t make fake ones” continues Pagano speaking to “La Torre di Babele” on La7, indirectly addressing Laura Sgrò, the Orlandis’ lawyer, who according to the Prefect had viewed this file at the Secretariat of State containing the echoes of the press. Sgrò replies: “I have never seen any file concerning Emanuela Orlandi and the only disappointment I have expressed over the years is that resulting from the constant silence received despite repeated requests”. Pietro Orlandi, on the other hand, comments on the start of the work of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry: “I admit that I have been a sort of stalker with Parliament, pressing the Chamber and the Senate in order to get the work of this Commission started as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the Vatican has delayed the start of a year; through the promoter of justice Alessandro Diddi, he did everything to delay the start if not even block everything. However, I am pleased that despite the obstructionism of the Holy See, they decided to start the Commission by practically voting it unanimously”, he tells Cusano TV. (HANDLE).
