After a three-year break, the stage is finally set for a new season of the reality series “Married at First Sight” on Discovery. The program follows six couples who meet for the first time at their own wedding. Along the way, there will be regular confirmation rounds where each of the participants must decide whether they want to stay or whether they want to leave.
Among this year’s participants we find Ørjan Benjamin Hansen (34), who is connected with Cecilie Andrea Varela (25). Both have been seen on screen previously in “Linni seeks the dream prince” and “Paradise Hotel” and “Ex on the Beach”, respectively.

But if it had been up to Hansen, it is actually a completely different reality concept he would have participated in instead of “Married at First Sight”.

– Complete madness
The 34-year-old wanted to be part of “The Farm”. He even made it through the initial round of interviews for the TV 2 programme, and was called in for an extra interview.
While Hansen was waiting for an answer about the “Farmen” participation, he received a surprising phone call.
– I felt I had shown myself as a good figure, so when they called and said they were from Strix, I thought “Oh, now I’ve come along”, he tells Dagbladet.
However, it did not turn out quite as the 34-year-old had envisioned. They wanted to have him in another series instead, namely “Married at First Sight”.

– My first thought was that I absolutely shouldn’t take part in that. It is complete madness.
Hansen declined. But when he received a phone call from his friend Joakim, whom he met through “Linni seeks the dream prince”, everything changed.
– He was going to interview me, so I thought I had to too.
During the interview, Hansen took it completely easy, which apparently impressed the producers.
It did not take long before he was invited to join the series.
– I thought that this would crash with work and such, so I let them know and politely declined. But then they tell me that they can wait with the recording until it suits me, and then I couldn’t say no.
Hansen describes the experience as a challenge, and says that he is now completely done with dating programs.
– I love trying new things and getting to know new people, but then I’d rather be in “The Farm” or “71 degrees north”, he laughs.

It was in 2022 that Hansen appeared in the dating program “Linni seeks the dream prince”.
There was no relationship between them, and the 34-year-old was eventually sent home.
Even if the outcome was not Linni and Ørjan, he does not at all regret that he joined. Hansen became good friends with the other dream princes.
– You can’t regret something you throw yourself into, I left there with a positive experience.
However, he says that the reality debut was a pure coincidence. Hansen had made a bet, which resulted in TV dating.
