Organizer plans with spectators: the Norisring date for 2021 has now been set – sport

– Now the date is set. Most recently, the Norisring weekend had been postponed to autumn, now it is clear: From October 8th to 10th, the racing cars will circle around the stone grandstand.

Originally planned for the beginning of July, then postponed to autumn – and now precisely timed: the Norisring race weekend with the DTM will take place around the Nuremberg Steintribüne from October 8th to 10th. The Motorsport Club Nürnberg (MCN), the city of Nuremberg and the DTM are also extending the existing contract up to and including 2022. The future of the racing event thus seems secure for the time being.

“We are sure that we will experience a great season finale at the Norisring with its unique atmosphere,” said Benedikt Böhme, managing director of ITR, the umbrella organization of the DTM, in a statement. For the typical atmosphere, spectators are always necessary, and there should be spectators in Nuremberg – subject to the pandemic situation and with the application of a hygiene concept, as it goes on to say.

“The Norisring race will be held in Nuremberg – that is good news and shows that we will continue to be attractive for sports events,” said Nuremberg mayor Marcus König. MCN Chairman Wolfgang Schlosser adds: “The MCN is very happy about the organization of the season finale and the associated long-term securing of the Norisring race with the DTM, especially from a sustainable point of view.” He is alluding to the Norisring supporting program in which, among other things, the DTM Electric is to be presented.
