Organize an exhibition and auction of portraits of famous personalities in Latvia to collect donations for creative people affected by the Covid-19 crisis

The charity project “Give to the Donor Returns” will open an exhibition of portraits of photographer Laura Vīksne “Light at the End of the Tunnel or Memories of the Pandemic Time Blockade” on August 21 in the 2nd quarter of Sporta Street, the project organizers informed. The series of photographs consists of portraits of several well-known personalities in Latvia.

The exhibition will feature portraits of Elita Patmalniece, Dārta Daneviča, Juris Kaukulis, Vladislav Nastavševa, Ozola, Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis, Denis Paškevičs, Jānis Skuteļs, Aminata, Reiņa Liepiņa, Kaspars Znotins, Rvīna Varde, Edgars Viļums and others.

At the end of the exhibition, on September 15, at 7 pm, in the Sports 2 quarter, an auction of photographer’s works will take place, led by TV personality and comedian Jānis Skutelis. The funds obtained from the auction will be directed to the account of “Dots devēja atdodas” ziedot.lv and later donated to support the representatives of creative industries in difficulty, who have been left without sufficient means of subsistence due to the crisis and forced downtime caused by Covid-19.

The project organizers inform that so far 10,477.16 euros have been donated through the campaign, which in turn has helped to overcome the financial difficulties caused by the pandemic for dozens of people.

From April 24 to May 1, a donation campaign show took place on the LSM.lv portal within the project, in which various well-known Latvian artists, actors, singers, architects, directors and other cultural figures visited Jānis Skuteelis in a pop-up studio with an invitation to donate for cultural support. representatives.

The 2nd quarter of the sport is not a random location for the upcoming activity, the organizers emphasize – it is a place of cultural life and recreation, located in the territory of the former confectionery factory. The Kim? Center for Contemporary Art, the Easy and Ziedonis Class, the film and advertising industry “von Films”, the architects “Sampling”, the landscape architects ALPS, the Music and Drama Room “OratoriO”, the clothing and interior designers, production companies, and others.

The project “Give to the Donor Returns”, which started in April, has been developed in cooperation with Ziedot.lv, LSM.lv, Telia Latvija, the Association of Contemporary Culture NGOs, Swedbank, von Films and BBrental to help those in difficulty, as well as to raise the issue of low income of cultural workers in society.

Representatives of the industry who are in a financially unstable situation can apply for support on the portal ziedot.lv. Applications are evaluated by a council of experts in the field of culture, which includes representatives of various creative disciplines.
