Organist Iveta Apkalnas, the artistic director of the festival, says: “Music comes from silence and returns to it. Silence at the beginning of a piece is not the same as at the end of a piece, because while we listen, the world around us changes. Our inner world also changes. It can become fragile to mighty and from proud to humble. At this festival, we invite you to listen to the majesty of the instrument of a thousand tongues and hear that one voice that speaks to you.”
The foreign guest of the festival this year will be the Lithuanian musician Martins Levickis – one of the most popular young accordionists in the world, the recipient of dozens of international awards. This year, Martins Levickis has become the recipient of the prestigious German classical music industry awards Opus Klassik in the laureate category Instrumentalist of the Year. This award was given to the artist for the solo album released in the spring of 2023 Autographreleased by the record label Stress Music. It includes arrangements of Lithuanian folk songs, music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Philip Glass, Frank Angeli and Miloš Magin.
