Orell Füssli is launching a community for all reading enthusiasts in German-speaking Switzerland. This offers everyone who is interested the opportunity to exchange ideas about their favorite books and to give each other reading tips. The community provides space for discussion on all types of books from around the world. Orell Füssli also wants to offer Swiss literature a platform again and again. The beta version of the community has been online exclusively for Premium Card holders since November 5th. The official launch will follow in spring 2021, according to a statement.
“With the Orell Füssli Community, we are creating an exchange platform for all reading enthusiasts,” said Christine Roth, Head of Marketing & Communication at Orell Füssli Thalia. «We are pleased – after months of intensive development – to make the beta version available to a larger audience. After the Orell Füssli employees have already uploaded numerous book reviews and started to exchange ideas and tips about their favorite books, we want to include around 500,000 Premium Card customers in the beta phase. ”
The opinion of the first members is also asked. There is currently a voting for the definitive name of the Orell Füssli community, as it goes on. «We want the members to be able to help shape the platform according to their wishes and needs. That is why we have decided to invite our loyal and committed Premium Card customers in the beta version to design the community and let them determine the final name, ”Roth continues.
Features of the beta version
By voting for the choice of name at the beginning of the beta launch, Orell Füssli is “sending out a signal that the reading community should continue to develop”. According to the announcement, various functions are already available in the current version. Members can fill their virtual bookshelf, write and comment on reviews, rate books, ask questions and discuss them with other members. Further features, such as the possibility to follow other members, will be introduced in the course of further development. The design is also continuously developed.
All Premium Card holders will receive a code by email to register register for the community to be able to. Reading enthusiasts without a Premium Card can sign up online for the beta version of the reading community apply.
Official launch in spring 2021
Orell Füssli is planning the official launch of the community in spring 2021. From then on, anyone interested can register directly. Even after the launch, the community will continue to develop. «The reading community should be as close as possible to the needs of the members, because they fill them with life and their reading experiences. Orell Füssli will listen to the wishes of the members and continuously introduce new functions and options. The first additions for spring 2021 have already been made: We will bring the community from the Internet to the Orell Füssli bookstores and thus expand our omnichannel approach to this project as well. Customers should be able to physically discover the most discussed books from the digital platform at theme tables in our branches. In addition, we are already thinking of exclusive events for members, such as reading circles or meetings and readings with authors, ”says Roth. (pd / cbe)
