Good news on June 25 in the diocese of Chartres, a deacon, Olivier Lecanu, was ordained there for the priesthood:
“Bishop Philippe Christory ordained Olivier Lecanu deacon, in view of the priesthood, on June 25, 2023 at the Saint-Pierre church in Chartres. We give thanks!
Many priests from the diocese concelebrated the mass presided over by the bishop, surrounded by deacons from the diocese as well as seminarians and priests from the seminary of Ars. In September, Olivier will continue his work-study training: three weeks a month in the parish of Saint Lubin du Perche where he will be accompanied by Abbots Hugues de Tilly (priest) and Louis-Marie Cuisiniez; and one week per month at seminary“.
The Republican Echo trained the portrait of the new deacon, ordained at Saint-Pierre de Chartres and who is studying at the seminary of Ars: “originally from Dreux, entered the international seminary of Ars (Ain) at the age of 30 after five years of theological studies, baptized and brought up in the Christian tradition, he had very early felt the desire to become a priest. He then dropped out, then converted around the age of 30“.
