Singaporean netizens were shocked when they ordered stir-fried vegetables at a restaurant. He was surprised why he had to pay Rp. 815 thousand for one serving. Here’s the story!
The bad experience of ordering food in relation to price increases is often annoying. As experienced by a netizen in Singapore while eating at a restaurant.
In a Mothership report (12/11), a netizen named Kay is known to have eaten with several business relatives for a farewell lunch at a restaurant in the Orchard area. The restaurant is called Paradise Teochew in Takashimaya.
The food 8 people ordered was dim sum with a variety of menus. The total that the 8 people had to pay was approximately S$533 (Rp. 6 million). To eat 8 people, it’s actually reasonable because the restaurant you visited is also quite luxurious.

However what was a surprise was when I looked at the food bill and checked what they had eaten. There was a serving of stir-fried vegetables which a waitress had previously recommended to everyone’s surprise, as the price was ridiculous.
A serving of stir-fried vegetables has been known to cost S$72 (Rp. 815 thousand). The name of the menu is written in Chinese which means fried dou miao with minced garlic (large size).
According to Kay, the dou miao menu was recommended by the waiter when ordering. “He (the waiter) recommended it and said something like ‘today we have a dou miao menu, do you want to try it?’” Kay said, recounting her experience.

When the dou miao menu arrived, they realized it wasn’t their usual dish. Dou miao is a green pea sprout (similar to bean sprouts), this vegetable is very popular in China.
The dou miao plates served have smaller leaves. Kay revealed that hers had good taste and was as expected.
The restaurant apologizes for the misunderstanding. He said these vegetables are imported products, so the price is higher.
“Sprouts (dou miao) are imported from Hong Kong, so the price is higher than other vegetables offered on the menu. In this case, a regular portion of sprouts costs S$ 36 (Rp.407 thousand), like the others vegetables on the menu,” the restaurant said.
