Saturday evening, February 11, 2023, the order of the Pinmaekers was awarded to Giel Bruijnaers by Vastelaovendjvecleaning De Pinmaekers from Nederweert.

De decorandes is no stranger and has been involved and committed to the Ni-jwieërter Vastelaovendj for quite some time. In the early nineties, Giel was one of the founders of the Ni-jwieërter Vastelaovendj Lidjes Foundation (SNVL). The foundation released two CDs and partly because of this initiative, the Limburgse Vastelaovendj song received the appreciation it deserved. To promote the Limburg song, Giel co-founded ‘t Ni-jwieërter in 1993 lidjeskonkoer and he was also co-lyricist of a number of Vastelaovendjlidjes. In 1996, Giel received the Kolderpin from the Municipality of Nederweert for his contribution and great commitment to the Ni-jwieërter Vastelaovendj. In 1998 Giel, together with Anita Kaan, formed the borebroed couple of De Pinmaekers and with his creative ideas he managed to implement a number of innovations such as the Boredis during the borebroeleft.
From 2002 Giel was chairman of Harmonie St. Joseph and good cooperation between Hofkapel Klein Mer Neugter and VV De Pinmaekers was of paramount importance to Giel. Giel remained involved with the Borebroeleft and since 2006 has acted as a civil registrar. On the 11e out of 11e Giel announces the bore company every year. During the borebroeleft, Giel knows how to humorously connect the borebroed couple in the mock as “Giel van Piet van Guul van de Klump”.
Giel has been working for the Municipality of Nederweert for more than 40 years and has been responsible for the organization and presentation of the annual key transfer for both the great and the youth princes. Giel ensures that De Pinmaekers and all other Vastelaovendj associations are received in a dignified manner and as master of ceremonies he is a real host.
The great commitment to the Vastelaovendj in Ni-jwieërt and to VV De Pinmaekers in particular has made the association decide to give Giel Bruijnaers, To be awarded the Order of De Pinmaekers. Prince Roland presented Giel with the accompanying decorations during the borebroeleft.
