Traditionally, the festival “Riga Jurmala” brings together the world’s leading symphony orchestras and the brightest soloists every summer. On Thursday, December 9, the organizers of the festival announced next year’s program and artists. The concerts will take place over four weekends, from July to the end of August, at the Dzintari Concert Hall, the Small Guild and the National Opera.

Next year, the festival will feature the St. Petersburg Maria Theater and conductor Valery Gergiev. Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conductor Michael Tilson-Thomas. Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, conductor Manfred Honek. Also for the second year in a row, the Marisa Janson Festival Orchestra will be gathered from several orchestras.

The program will feature works by Antonio Vivaldi, Camilla Sensan, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and other popular classics.

As the artistic director of the festival Martin Martström pointed out: “The program is very popular, but at the same time it must be unique. It should not be an orchestra concert tour program. We create an identity with our program.

The festival will also feature a number of world-famous soloists, including violinist Jeanne Jansen, cellist Truls Merks, pianists Helen Grimo and sisters Labeck. In total, the festival will offer 20 concerts, and its organizers reveal that another surprise concert is being prepared. The festival will also host solo concerts and master classes by artists.
