Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to visit Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zovkva announced, confirming the information previously published in the Hungarian media.

According to him, on February 9, during his visit to Brussels, Zelenskiy met with Orban among several other European leaders.

“Indeed, the Hungarian prime minister was the first to approach the Ukrainian president and shake his hand,” Zhovkva said.

During this short meeting, Zelenskiy discussed the issues of Ukraine’s European integration with Orban and “heard a constructive” response.

“The President of Ukraine has repeatedly invited Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to come to Ukraine, Kyiv. Sit down at the table and talk about all aspects, including those that concern Hungary. We are ready to offer our approaches to solve it,” Zhovkva said.

Orbán, who maintained close relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, refuses to send weapons to Ukraine and pass them through the country’s territory, calling instead for an immediate ceasefire and the start of peace talks, as well as the lifting of sanctions against Russia.
