Community Europe was built on the reconciliation of peoples and the values of liberal democracy. But what went without saying until the entry of the former Soviet bloc countries into the EU in 2004 is now disputed. Fortunately, not peace, but the idea that some, like Orban’s Hungary or Kaczyński’s Poland, have about the balance of power, media freedom and minority rights.
