The regional Civil Protection, considering the current weather situation and the intensification of rainfall which is already causing critical situations in some municipalities of Campania, has extended, raised and extended theweather alert already in force for the entire regional territory. Starting from 11.59pm we move on toOrange on zones 1 (Campania Plain, Naples, islands, Vesuvian Area) and 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains, Picentini Mountains) and while the alert Yellow is extended to all other areas.
This is the picture in detail:
- From 11.59pm today 18th October to 11.59pm tomorrow 19th October: ORANGE ALERT on zones 1 (Campania Plain, Naples, islands, Vesuvian Area) and 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains, Picentini Mountains).
- From 11.59pm today 18th October to 11.59pm tomorrow 19th October: YELLOW ALERT on the rest of the regional territory.
- Currently in force and remains until 11.59pm today‘YELLOW ALERT on the areas: 1 (Piana Campana, Naples, Islands, Vesuvian Area); 2 (Alto Volturno and Matese), 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Coast, Sarno Mountains and Picentini Mountains).
Precipitation will therefore continue throughout tomorrow and may also be of a high nature strong thunderstorm.
In the areas where Orange is present, in particular, widespread hydrogeological instability may occur, with significant surface run-offs also with the transport of material and consequent flooding of roads, possible sinkholes due to erosion phenomena, slope instability, landslides and rock falls. This also takes into consideration the rainfall already taking place and the consequent saturation of the soil.
In the areas affected by the Yellow level alert there will be localized hydrogeological instability. However, flooding, water flow on road surfaces, flooding and rock falls will be possible.
