Orange launches Livebox 5 in the French West Indies and Guyana: twice the speed and a reduced carbon footprint

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Customers of Orange Fiber offers in the French West Indies and Guyana can now benefit from doubled speeds with the Livebox 5.

Designed to meet the growing needs of customers and the need to share speed in homes, this new generation Livebox offers up to 2Gbit / s shared downstream and up to 600Mbit / s upstream. With a doubled downstream speed, it allows the simultaneous use of all the family’s equipment – up to 1Gbit / s per equipment – and gives better comfort of use within the home.

Livebox 5 is available with the new Livebox Essential Fiber and Livebox Infini Fiber offers.

It is also equipped with Intelligent Wifi for an ever more efficient and stable connection. This reduces the disturbances generated by the neighbors’ Wi-Fi by automatically selecting the best frequency and the best channel of the Livebox 5. Tests have shown a 40% improvement in downlink speeds (in comparison with the Wi-Fi of Liveboxes not equipped).

In addition to offering double speeds and a more stable connection, the Livebox 5 is designed with a reduced carbon footprint. With each generation of Liveboxes, Orange seeks to reduce the carbon impact of its equipment. Each year in France, 2.7 million Liveboxes are reused, and 100% of returned boxes are recycled. Orange, a committed and responsible operator, has decided to go even further to control its environmental impact.

For this, and in line with the steps taken with the Livebox 4 and the TV 4 decoder, Orange worked with its partners to improve production and reduce the carbon footprint of the new Livebox 5 by 29%:

  • a 100% recycled plastic shell,
  • lighter and more compact manufacturing,
  • fewer electronic components, which facilitates repair and recycling,
  • a new design allowing passive ventilation, without fan.

“Our new Livebox has been designed to offer the best of the network while reducing its environmental impact. Orange is proud to launch a product that meets both our demand for the quality of services offered to our customers and our demand for environmental responsibility. ” specifies Thierry Kergall, Director Orange Antilles-Guyane.

In addition, to better meet the needs of its customers, Orange has renewed its Fiber and xDSL offers. A new Livebox range has been marketed in the Antilles-Guyana since April 9, 2020.

The boosted speed delivered by the new Livebox 5 will be offered to Livebox Infini Fiber customers.

The Livebox Infini offers have also been enriched with the Family package included for 12 months, giving access to more than 30 TV channels and the video pass.

For better coverage everywhere at home, the Wifi repeater is also available for rental, with the offers of the new range. The Live Wifi 5’s Intelligent Wifi, compatible with this repeater, allows customers to benefit from better Wi-Fi coverage everywhere at home, and offers greater fluidity when moving from one room to another.

Customers can also use the My Livebox application, offering many features such as the mapping tool to optimize their Wi-Fi installation, or even controlling the duration of connection of each device.

Finally, the Connected House home automation service, which allows you to control and manage connected objects to simplify the daily life of the family, is available to all our customers of the new range after activation via the application.
