- Protests have been announced in France today against the policies of President Emmanuel Macron. Left-wing voters are angry because Michel Barnier – from the centre-right party Les Républicains – has been appointed prime minister. The protesters believe this is unfair because the left-wing bloc Nouveau Front Populaire (NFP) became the largest in parliament.
- A demonstration is also taking place in the Netherlands, with a demonstration planned by Free Palestine in The Hague.

Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft has returned to Earth without a crew. Shortly after 06:00 Dutch time, it landed as planned using parachutes in New Mexico.
The two astronauts who travelled to the ISS space station in June with the Starliner were not on board. The intention was that they would return after ten days, but technical problems prevented this. Again, NASA considered it too risky to let them go. That is why the two will not return until February with another spacecraft.
