Everyone knows that the traffic light has three colors, that there is no red light, no green light and no orange light, the driver should either get ready to stop or get ready to stop. However, the law also remembers that the “preparation for a stop” will not work out that way.
The Road Traffic Act states that when the orange (or yellow) traffic light is on, the driver must stop in front of the “Transverse line”, “Transverse line” symbol. a line linked to the word “STOP” and, where there is no such traffic sign, in front of a traffic light.
But the same law, specifically section 70, also states: “However, if this vehicle is so close when the signal illuminates that the driver cannot stop the vehicle safely, he may continue to drive.” use the favorite “it was still green”. The orange can only be passed when it fell just before crossing the intersection, for example when the driver might be slowed down, but the driver may not be behind it, and an accident would occur.
Any fine for crossing the intersection on the orange road, ie at the moment when the driver had to stop and stay standing, is up to CZK 2,000 on the spot, and up to CZK 2,500 in administrative proceedings. However, those who would not make it and pass the red light face a much harsher punishment. They can count on a fine of CZK 2,500, in administrative proceedings CZK 5,000 (or CZK 7,500 if they commit the offense twice or more in 12 consecutive months), and in the case of a repeated offense also a ban on driving for up to 12 months.
