orange alert maintained, trees on several roads (Arlon)

The province of Luxembourg was swept by storm Ciara on Sunday and overnight from Sunday to Monday.

In the province of Luxembourg, the emergency services have been on deck since yesterday. And they hardly stopped overnight. The interventions were numerous, among other things because of several trees fallen on the road. Whether it is rue de Saint Hubert in the direction of Fauvillers, on the road from Hotton to Étezée, in several places in La Roche, on the N4 at Malmaison, on the road Forrieres – Masbourg, on the road Saint-Medard – Bertrix or even between Arville and Awenne as well as at the entrance to Manhay. But overall, there are no big problems on the road and highway network.

If the winds should normally calm down during the morning, the province of Luxembourg nevertheless remains on orange alert, says Governor Olivier Schmitz. “Caution and vigilance therefore remain essential,” he said.

On Monday morning, the inhabitants were able to notice when they woke up the damage caused by the storm, such as a damaged facade in Recogne, or a garden shed on land in Biron.

Regarding the schools, no closure decision has been taken by the competent authorities, adds the governor: “The situation does not justify it. The winds eased at the end of the night and the trend should be confirmed in the coming hours. ”In the Grand Duchy, however, the schools are closed.

The commander of the rescue zone, Stéphane Thiry, will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. to take stock of the situation.
