Orange alert in the Valencian Community due to the cold wave, towns without school

Orange alert in the Valencian Community due to the cold wave. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has established the orange alert in the Valencian Community for snowfalls that can occur from 400 meters and reach 15 centimeters in the next 24 hours.

The emergency began at 00.00 hours and will last until 24.00 hours this Thursday, January 7.

The orange alert will be in force in the interior of the province of Alicante, in the northern interior of Castellón and in the northern and southern interior of the province of Valencia with a probability that ranges between 40 and 70%.

There are already 49 roads affected by snowstorms, 2 of them cut

The Valencian Agency for Safety and Emergency Response has established a level 0 snowfall emergency in the province of Castellón due to the risk of snowfall due to the impact of the storm Filomena, which has caused incidents of ice and snow on 49 roads in the Region Valenciana, 4 of them cut off to traffic.

Of the total number of roads affected, four remain cut off by the presence of snow: CV-391, between kilometer points 0 to 32 in Requena and CV-794 between kilometers 0 to 11 in Bocairent-Alcoi (by Sierra de Mariola) ; the CV-657 between Fontanars del Alforins and Beneixama, between kilometers 8 to 12; and the CV-802, from kilometer 11 to 13 between Onil and Biscoi (CV-8O1).

Another ten highways require the use of a chain due to the presence of ice: the CV-207 between kilometers 0 and 24 in Barracas-Puebla de Arenoso; the CV-209, between kilometer points 0 to 12 in Pina de Monalgrao; and due to the presence of snow on CV-589, between Moixent and CV-590 by Navalón, according to Emergencies of the Generalitat.

The use of chains is also required due to the presence of snow on the roads: CV-350 from La Yesa to Arcos de Salinas; on the CV-390 from Utiel to Tuéjar, in the section between Casas de Medina and Utiel; the CV-478, between Ademuz and the border of the province by Vallanca and Negrón: on the CV-479, on the N-420 on the border of the province by Castelfabib and El Cuervo.

In the same way, it is necessary to circulate with chains due to the presence of snow on the roads: CV-481 at the access to Los Santos; the CV-582 at the access to Cuesta del RAto and the CV-483 at the access to Veguillas de Sierra through Arroyo Cerezo.

In addition, circulation is conditioned by the presence of snow on the A-3 highway, from kilometer 247 to 323 in Villargordo del Cabriel-Utiel; the A-7 motorway, from kilometer 449 to 464 between Alcoi and Ibi.

There are also incidents that condition circulation due to the presence of ice and snow on the roads: CV-235 and CV-241 in Viver and Sacañet; in CV-245 in Height; CV-25 in Gátova; CV-35 between Titaguas and Aras de los Olmos and on CV-355 in Losilla; on the CV-388 and CV-389 in Siete Aguas.

Likewise, there are circulation problems on the CV-390, CV-425, CV-657, CV-713, CV-752, CV-770, CV-780, CV-781, CV-782, CV-785, CV- 787, CV-794, CV-795, CV-797, CV-799, CV-800 and CV-801.

Six municipalities of the Community postpone the return to classes due to the covid and the cold wave

At least six municipalities in the Valencian Community have postponed the return to classes after the Christmas holidays due to the restrictions imposed in their municipalities as a result of the COVID pandemic and the cold wave.

According to data provided by the Sindicat de Treballadors de l’Ensenyament (STE-PV), the municipalities that have decided to postpone the return to schools are Requena, Alfafara, Beneixama, Villena, Ibi and Sollana.
