Orange alert in Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Valle d’Aosta

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 31 – The effects of the vast depression area present in Western Europe continue, which is causing a flow of humid and unstable currents on the northern areas of Italy, with precipitation extending from the western to the eastern regions, and a general intensification of ventilation, more significant in part of the northern Apennines. Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved – which is responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned – has issued a further warning of adverse weather conditions, which integrates and extends those issued in the previous rounds. The warning predicts strong to gale-force winds from the southern quadrants from today’s afternoon to Liguria and Emilia-Romagna, with gusts up to strong gale-force winds in the respective Apennine sectors. Furthermore, scattered to widespread precipitation, including showers or thunderstorms, is expected from the early hours of tomorrow in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. These phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, possible hailstorms and strong gusts of wind. On the basis of the expected phenomena, an orange alert has been assessed for tomorrow on part of Valle d’Aosta, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, a yellow alert on the entire territory of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige and Umbria, on the remaining sectors of the Aosta Valley, large areas of Veneto, Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.
