As the mercury continues to climb, Météo France is stepping up its alerts by placing 28 departments (including Haute-Garonne and Aveyron) on orange alert to deal with the heat wave. Among them, six are located in the south-west of France, where temperatures already exceed extreme heat thresholds.
Saturday August 19, from noon, Météo France will extend its alert system to 28 departments placed in orange vigilance due to the prevailing scorching weather conditions. The move comes as the heat wave continues to intensify across the country, highlighting potential risks to public health and the environment.
The southwest under close surveillance
Among the departments concerned by this alert, six are located in the south-west region. Haute-Garonne and Aveyron thus join Gers, Tarn, Lot-et-Garonne and Lot, which have already been on orange alert since Friday.
