“ORA Lightning Cat: The Chinese Electric Car Brand with Cat-Inspired Models”

ORA is a Chinese automaker focused on electric cars that named its models after cats. In the manufacturer’s portfolio we can therefore find the typical Mikeš (Black Cat) or Mick (White Cat), but also the excited kitten Funky Cat or the flagship adult elegant beast Lightning Cat. And the last named car was caught by our colleague Ondra Svoboda in Dejvice, Prague.

Remove the camouflage sticker from the body? Nice job, better to keep it.

It’s not exactly standard that models that have already been presented and revealed continue to be driven on the roads with the original camouflage of the prototypes, however, there is a reason for this. Removing the camouflage sticker from the body is very complicated and often unnecessary for developers, which is why the cars in question with camouflage often live to the end.

We remind you that the electric ORA Lightning Cat uses a battery with a capacity of 82 kWh, which in the 4×4 version feeds two electric motors tuned to a total output of 408 hp and a torque of 680 Nm. The single-engine version has only 205 horsepower, but its range reaches an interesting 705 kilometers per charge.

Just below the rear glass is a retractable wing.

The ORA Lightning Cat will please you with its dimensions in person, as it is an almost five meter long car. Despite the similarity to the Stuttgart Panamera, the overall design is largely unique, with the front and rear lights being visibly different. Like almost every dynamic car, the electric cat also has a wing, located under the rear glass, and retractable.

The wildly shaped alloy wheels, shod on low-profile Michelin Pilot Sport EV 235/45 R19 tires, are also unique. It is therefore a case of footwear for powerful electric cars, so it can be assumed that the caught piece is a two-motor four-wheeler.

The sub-brand Great Wall Motors refers to the parent concern of the ORA brand.

The last point of interest confirming the car’s originality is the Great Wall Motors sub-brand, which refers to the parent concern of the Chinese brand ORA.

A peek into the bright interior reveals a raised center tunnel inspired by luxury sports cars (check out the Bugatti Chiron’s cabin), which hosts three main round dials controlling interior temperature, fan intensity and drive modes. In the upper part of the tunnel, there are still tiny levers operating the heating of the rear window, the mirrors and the blowing of the windshield.

A look at the interior reveals something about the car’s equipment.

Analysis of the image will further reveal the presence of automatic lights, a head-up display or a blind spot monitoring system, while visible buttons on the ergonomic steering wheel activate voice control, adaptive cruise control or a user-programmed function. A certain unknown is the checkered flag on the lower arm of the steering wheel, they probably refer to the more powerful 4×4 variant of the Lightning Cat model.

ORA’s flagship cat isn’t officially available here yet, but we’re glad to have nabbed at least a camouflaged prototype of it. And what about you? What interesting car have you come across on our travels lately? Do not hesitate to share your experiences with us in the comments below the article.
