Queens residents react to new options introduced by the Port Authority to connect travelers to LaGuardia Airport.
This after the suspension of the plan to build a new elevated train known as the AirTrain.
According to the authorities, one of the alternatives is to expand the N and W train lines since for now there are only 2 bus lines and private car services are somewhat expensive.
Also another possibility would be to enable new bus routes or the use of a ferry on the East River together with an emerging technology of automated cars.
The expansion of the subway lines was viewed with disfavor by some recent ones, since they argue that the work would only bring chaos, while others are in favor of increasing bus service.
“Now you have to take a taxi or use the public transport that goes there, but if they extend the roads to the airport it would be super good.” said an Astoria resident.
It will be next Thursday when a workshop will be held to give more details about the plan and where residents will be able to present their opinions.
