“No, there were more,” Stewart answers on Goedemorgen Eredivisie when asked whether PSV was the first Dutch option. He is then asked whether Ajax, which was also diligently looking for a new technical man before the arrival of the already dismissed Sven Mislintat, had shown interest at the time. Stewart indicates that that was not the case.
“I think that if you are TD, you have to fit in somewhere and understand the culture,” the former midfielder continues. “For me, this (PSV, ed.) was the first serious option that came on the table. The KNVB also called, and so did other serious clubs,” he is honest. Stewart does not want to reveal whether Feyenoord was one of the clubs that contacted him. “Leave the rest alone,” he answers with a cautious smile.
