Looking to grow your organic presence on Snapchat and maximize your reach and resonance with Snap users?
That might help — this week, Insider got its hands on a pitch deck that Snap sent to users who were selected for its “Snap Stars” influencer promotion program.
Snap Stars, as Snapchat describes it, are:
« …public figures or creators who bring some of the best and most entertaining content to Snapchat. With their unique perspectives, Snap Stars offer their audiences unprecedented access to a diverse and global set of interests, including arts, beauty, news, games, music and more.
By joining the program, Snap Stars are eligible to have their content featured in the app, and once creators are accepted into the program, Snapchat provides them with a series of notes on how to create images and clips more efficient and application-specific.
According to Insider, these tips include:
- Emphasize “days in life experiences” by posting 20-50 Snap Stories per day, so followers are engaged for longer
- Post directly to Snap map, a feature that allows Snapchat users to see each other’s location, so users who are not subscribed can easily discover your content
- Make a strong “tile” on your feed, which is the most recent Snapchat photo or video taken
- Captivate viewers in the first one to three shots to watch the whole story
- Encourage non-subscribers to subscribe a few times a week and subscribers to turn on story notifications
- Use subtitles, as many people watch stories without sound
- Balance business content with authentic personal content
So that’s a lot – 20-50 Snaps every day is a big commitment, and it’s likely going to be difficult for most people or businesses to deliver consistently entertaining content on that scale.
But as with all social platforms, maintaining consistency and building presence is important, and showing up is a big part of that. As such, it’s no surprise that Snap is pushing regular posting. But even then, it’s a lot.
And do people really like this ‘day in the life’ stuff – like ‘Go to the store’, ‘To the store’, etc.?
I’ve seen many aspiring Snapchats do this, and it seems like overkill – but I guess if you’re entertaining and familiar with the platform, it might help get your profile better known to your audience.
Posting directly to Snap Map is another neat trick, which could help improve discovery, while managing how your profile appears in the app is another opportunity to grab attention.
Most of the tips here are pretty simple and what you’ve probably read before. But Snap’s recommended output rate is significant.
Again, this is for users that Snap wants to turn into platform-specific influencers, so it may not apply to people who don’t fall into that category. Still, some interesting food for thought.
It’s time to start capturing all your activities throughout the day.
