Optimism Abounds for Vulkins’ Head Coach Ahead of the 2023-2024 Football Season

The head coach of the Vulkins football club at Cégep de Victoriaville, Stéphane Rivard, is very optimistic for the 2023-2024 season. According to him, all hopes are allowed if he relies on what he saw during the training camp which ends this evening (August 25).

The spring pre-camp had already foreshadowed good things for this squad, which reached the RSEQ semi-finals last year. Stéphane Rivard continues, after the three-week training camp – which brought together 56 players, including 25 veterans – to have good words for his current team.

“On offense, we are good at all positions. And there is a great fight between our veteran Alex Gouin and Sébastien Lessard for the position of starting quarterback. Our defense is also to be watched, especially at the linebackers,” he said.

The Vulkins head coach is thrilled with the quality of his rookies. “We have a very good succession in the region. And we are continuing our recruiting efforts in France, with three players breaking through the roster for the season, including veteran Lenny Sylva,” he said.

The regular season will begin on Saturday, September 2, at 2 p.m., against the Voltigeurs in Drummondville. As for the first local match, it will take place on Saturday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m.

“By avoiding injuries, of course, anything is possible. Our primary goal is to make the playoffs with a healthy team. Player development remains at the heart of our concerns, but so much the better if we can go all the way,” concludes Stéphane Rivard.
