The universal learned that William Dau’s administration will hire 530 security guards through Service Provision Orders (OPS), of the 1,300 necessary to cover all educational centers. These security guards will be providing their services for 20 days in schools located in critical points of the city.
The previous agreement was achieved thanks to a meeting held yesterday between the Secretary of Education, Olga Acosta; the General Secretary and Director of Logistics Support for the District (e), Carlos La Rota, and representatives of the District’s education unions.
In said meeting, both the Mayor’s Office and the unions recognized the importance of accelerating the process so that official associations have surveillance while the new contract for this service is awarded, which is already on the Colombian Mercantile Exchange (BMC) and will enter running on March 9.
At the meeting, the Metropolitan Police of Cartagena was also asked for a greater presence in educational institutions and surrounding sectors, this as a plan to reinforce security.
Faced with the cleaning contract in official institutions that expires today, it was learned that one of the District’s alternatives is to declare the manifest urgency to speed up the contracting.
“Be sure that the provision of cleaning and surveillance services in schools are the priority at this time. From day one, we managed to ensure that children and young people had a dignified and powerful School Meal Plan (PAE). Likewise, with the support of the public, we will be able to guarantee safe and dignified learning spaces. It is a commitment that we have as an administration,” said the Secretary of Education.
The official clarified that classes will not be suspended and the school calendar will continue its course.
The PAE is saved

On Monday, through a negotiation process, the contract for this service was awarded to the Unión Temporal Banco de Alimentos Paz con un Propósito (Bapacop), a company that had already been operating the program in the 206 official schools of the city. .
The Ministry of Education explained that four proponents presented themselves to the process, of which three were qualified, but finally the firm Unión Temporal Bapacop was selected because it offered a better offer.
The Secretary of Education, Olga Acosta Amel, highlighted that the amount of the negotiation was $53,158 million, which meant a saving of $6,458 million.
The official stated that this year progress will be made in the preparation of food on site, given that more and more schools have adequate kitchens equipped with their respective utensils, as well as suitable personnel for the preparation of the rations.
