Oprah Winfrey: – In shock after Meghan’s accusations

When Oprah Winfrey (67) sat down with Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) in March, a whole world followed excitedly.

The revelations came like pearls on a string from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who a year ago resigned from his royal duties. Already in the weeks before the interview was broadcast on television, there was speculation about what the Duchess and her prince would lighten the veil on.

However, the world was probably not prepared for what actually came.

Accusations of racism, wild media drive, suicidal thoughts and the alleged ice front with Duchess Kate (39) were just some of the things that saw the light of day.

If we are to believe the interview queen herself, the revelations came as a shock to her as well.

Prepared well

In a new interview with Talkshoplive, reproduced by Independent, the 67-year-old says that she was unprepared for the duchess to accuse the British royal house of racism. In the Oprah interview, Meghan said that the royal house was concerned about the skin color of his son Archie (1) would get.

– I had no idea that it would have the reverberation effect it has had, and continues to have. I made many preparations before the interview, she says, and continues:

– Our common intention was the truth. They wanted to tell their story, and tell it in a way that allowed them to be as honest as possible.

The 67-year-old also reveals that she was surprised that the duke couple were so open in the two-hour interview. As part of the preparations, she also says that she sent a series of text messages with the couple, so that they could adapt to each other and understand each other’s intentions.

Accusations of racism

The interview was recorded several weeks before it was broadcast on television. As a result, the 67-year-old was very afraid that some of the emotional moments would leak out before the broadcast.

– When we finished the interview, which was three hours and 20 minutes long, I stood up and told the team that we all knew what had been said. I told them how important it was that we could trust people who had just shared their story, and that I hoped no one would tell what had happened. No one did.

As mentioned, the duke couple came with serious accusations of racism against the royal family. Shortly after the interview, Winfrey visited “CBS This Morning” to share further details from the interview with the duke couple, as well as show clips from the interview that have so far not been shared with the public.

There, the 67-year-old revealed that neither Queen Elizabeth (95) nor the now deceased Prince Philip were part of the conversation about Archie’s skin color. Winfrey further says that it was important for Prince Harry to bring this out.

In one of the clips shown, Prince Harry refused to reveal who took up Archie’s skin color, and exactly what was said. He said, however, that racism in Britain was a major reason why they chose to leave the royal family.
