Primetime Special Dedicated to Weight Loss Revolution

As a testament to her dedication to bringing weight-loss issues to the forefront, Winfrey has scheduled an hour-long ABC primetime special titled “An Oprah Special: Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution”. This special, recorded in front of a live studio audience, aims to gather medical experts to discuss a range of weight-loss drugs, including Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Wegovy. The special is scheduled to air on Monday, March 18.

Status of Winfrey’s Shares and Donations

Winfrey’s shares in WeightWatchers, totaling around 1.1 million shares or a 1.43% stake, are currently valued at under $2.5 million. Her initial investment in the company, acquiring 6.4 million shares, was valued at $43.2 million.

In a philanthropic move, Winfrey has decided to donate all of her WeightWatchers shares to the National Museum of African American History and Culture to eliminate any perceived conflicts of interest. Winfrey additionally plans to donate the proceeds from any exercise of her WW stock options to NMAAHC, ensuring her alignment with the organization’s goal of highlighting the contributions of African Americans.
