Opponents of pension reform are not giving up. And even if since Friday March 31, 2023, the Community Technical Center of Havre blocked since March 7 was released by law enforcement, allowing the resume garbage collectionMonday, April 3, a other blockage took over. What are the consequences on treatment of collected waste ?

From the technical center to the transfer center: a new blockage

“We had planned to reblock the Community Technical Center in Le Havre this morning but it was not possible, the police were everywhere and filtered the entrances. For this trade unionist interviewed by 76 currentlythe decision was quickly made to change direction.

Boulevard Jules-Durand, the transfer center which receives and compacts household waste from the cities of Le Havre and Sainte-Adresse has therefore been blocked. “We are continuing the movement. We are determined not to let go, ”says the trade unionist. On the spot about thirty people from FO, the CGT and the CFDT therefore prevent any entry of trucks.

State services are informed

The general manager of the site, Hervé Lelièvre explains: “The transfer center of Le Havre is not accessible so the trucks cannot empty the skips, the State services are informed that there is a picket in front of . »

And to explain what is done in this transfer center: “Waste from the City of Le Havre and the municipality of Sainte-Adresse is collected by skips which have a limited weight and volume capacity. To optimize transport, these skips dump their contents into compactor boxes and it is these boxes that are loaded onto a barge which is transported by river to the Radicatel terminal. This optimizes transport on the one hand, and it also avoids time or trucks driving without collection services. »

The center also manages refusals from the Veolia sorting center located just next door and skips from waste collection centers “which, with the resumption of spring activities, generates a significant flow”.

A new place to dump dumpsters

Will this new blockage call into question the treatment of collected waste? Asked by 76 currently, the Le Havre Seine Métropole urban community ensures that “the collection has resumed almost at full capacity, we had 22 garbage trucks out of 25 in operation this morning. The transfer platform having been blocked, we found a new place for the dumpsters which is further away”.
