Opposition party demands that Peru leave the San José Pact due to crime crisis

Lima, Oct 11 (Sputnik).- The Peruvian political party Fuerza Popular (Fujimorista, right) on Thursday demanded that the Government leave the Pact of San José in Costa Rica to stop the crime wave that the country is going through.

«From Fuerza Popular we demand that the Government take concrete and immediate actions regarding the wave of citizen insecurity that we are going through. Our party proposes the following: partially denounce the San José de Costa Rica pact regarding legal benefits in favor of terrorists and dangerous criminals,” the Fujimori party indicated in a statement.

On several occasions, Fuerza Popular, led by Keiko Fujimori, has proposed the exit of Peru from the Inter-American Human Rights System, born from the Pact of San José of Costa Rica, arguing international interference in the Peruvian judicial system by the Inter-American Court. of Human Rights.

The Fujimori demand implies that the Peruvian State renounces its obligations established in the pact, but only with regard to the alleged benefits it offers to judicially favor terrorists and highly dangerous criminals.

On the other hand, the political organization urged the Government to call on the Armed Forces to temporarily and exclusively assume the administration of prisons in Peru for 120 days, as it considers that a high percentage of crimes are planned from within the prisons. .

Likewise, he asked the Government to, within the next 20 days, present a consensual proposal for a reform of the justice system and the Public Ministry in order to avoid the release of criminals.

Peru is going through a serious social crisis due to the rise in crime associated with crimes such as extortion, hitmen, kidnapping, robbery, among others. (Sputnik)
