Opposition parties GroenLinks, PvdA and SP want State Secretary Blokhuis of Health to intervene in mental health care as quickly as possible, mental health care.
The end of January said Blokhuis that he would do so if there was not a plan within a month to help patients with complex psychological problems and to get them off the waiting list quickly. The reason for this promise was a conversation that Blokhuis had with a number of people who have long been waiting for care, such as Charlotte Bouwman, who action started in the hall of the ministry.
“Regional Tables”
GGZ Nederland and the health insurers have submitted a plan to the Ministry of Health. Next Tuesday, Blokhuis will discuss this with them behind closed doors.
Part of the plan leaked out through an internal GGZ Nederland newsletter. It states that there will be ‘regional tables’ where health care providers consult with each other about patients who are difficult to place. It also states that the waiting times have been kept outside the plan.
GGZ Nederland also writes to members that there will be no perseverance. Action group Lijm de Zorg wants to prevent patients with complex psychiatric problems who have to undergo long-term and expensive treatment from being sent on.
