Manchester City travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League Continued match, Friday (6/1/2023) early morning WIB. The Citizens need points from the match to be able to close the distances from Arsenal at the top of the table.
Man City are currently in second place with 36 points. They are eight points behind the Gunners. Arsenal failed to earn full points this week after being held to a draw by Newcastle United.
The opportunity for Man City to close the position with Arsenal is quite open. This is because Chelsea have yet to find their best performance under Graham Potter. The Blues dropped to 10th with 25 points.
Man City manager Pep Guardiola understands perfectly well that now is the right time to approach Arsenal. Therefore, Manchester Blue must be able to capitalize on the opportunity by winning against Chelsea.
Whereas it’s hard to catch Arsenal who have appeared very consistently this season. Guardiola stressed that Man City cannot play flawlessly hoping Arsenal slide so they can defend their Premier League title.
“The way to close the gap is to play well and win games,” Guardiola said before the match against Chelsea as quoted by the Independent.
“However, they (Arsenal) could have gotten 100 points or more if they played like that. If they continue like this, we won’t chase them.”
“We have to be almost perfect from here to the end of the season and hope their form drops a bit, because they were outstanding yesterday. We’ll see what happens,” he explained.
