Pavluts expressed satisfaction that the coalition partners generally supported the need to act more decisively and decide on more serious security measures. Although the coalition has not discussed specific security measures, the Minister of Health believes that the possibility of declaring a state of emergency should be considered, providing face-to-face services only to Covid-19 vaccinees and those suffering from the disease, and stricter monitoring of existing and planned security measures. According to the Minister, one should also think about strengthening and controlling security measures in educational institutions.
“In general, it must be taken into account that security measures must be aimed at protecting the unvaccinated part of the society from infection with Covid-19. Hospitals must also be protected from catastrophic congestion, which can have serious consequences for general public health,” Pavluts emphasized.
