Opponents of Covid-19 restrictions and vaccinations take to the streets in Estonia / Article

The demonstration took place in Freedom Square, and was led by Varo Voglaids, the head of the Family and Tradition Defense Foundation.

During the demonstration, Voglaid also collected donations, which, according to him, are necessary to cover the expenses of the organization of the campaign.

At the beginning of the rally, the man stated that people do not oppose the vaccination itself, but stand for freedom of choice. Those who have taken to the streets also want the government to stop splitting the public with the help of Covid-19 certificates, as well as stop vaccinating children against Covid-19.

Voglaid declared that an apartheid regime had been established in Estonia and called for mass civil disobedience, as the restrictions imposed by the government were unconstitutional.

Demonstrators’ posters include slogans such as “No to dictatorship!”, “We demand freedom of vaccination,” “How many vaccine deaths are acceptable?” and “God, guard Estonia!”

Some of the demonstrators have pinned badges to the Estonian Conservative People’s Party (EKRE). The crowd also shows the flags of EKRE and its blue awakening youth organization. EKRE leader Martin Helme and his deputy, as well as several members of parliament representing them, are also taking part in the campaign.

Members of the anti-immigration organization Odina Soldiers have also arrived at the rally.

In Estonia, around 1,500 new infections have been detected every day in recent days. As the number of people affected by the virus increases in hospitals, scheduled treatment will be discontinued from Monday.
