Opponents of anti-civic restrictions blocked the center of Bratislava

The demonstration began in front of the Presidential Palace, and the crowd later blocked nearby streets. Traffic in the city center was paralyzed, Slovak media reported. Police intervened against the unannounced protest after eight hours of its duration. Police officers received criticism from some politicians for their hesitant reaction.

Extensive columns were formed at the site, which was blocked by the protesters, as there is an important road link in the square in front of the Presidential Palace. Instead, public transport buses also had to go around, which was therefore delayed.

According to the Slovak media, the protesters shouted so that people would not wear veils, some had Slovak flags with them, other banners with inscriptions such as “vaccine is murder” or “apartheid.”

After eight hours of demonstrations, heavy police officers began pushing protesters off blocked roads, he said Denník N. According to the letter, the organizers also stated that the protest officially ended today, but they want to continue on Friday.

Protesters claim that they are fighting against the restriction of rights and against the “genocide of the nation”, described the teraz.sk portal, according to which the protesters criticized Čaputa, the Slovak government and the parliament. Demonstrators are also refusing covid-19 vaccination and coronavirus testing. They call the whole pandemic a scam.

According to teraz.sk, the demonstrators also reject the amendment to the law, which will slightly benefit vaccinated citizens of the country in the event of a worsening of the pandemic. If the epidemic situation worsens, they will be able to go to restaurants, theaters or hairdressers without restriction, for example. Unvaccinated will need a certificate of passing covid-19 or a negative test.

Meanwhile, PCR tests on Wednesday showed coronavirus infection in 49 people in Slovakia, another 14 people had positive antigen tests. Two more people died from Covid-19. The Slovak Ministry of Health informed about it at Facebook with the fact that both doses of the vaccine have so far been administered by healthcare professionals to more than 1.9 million people in Slovakia, where approximately 5.3 million people live.
