OPPO will release the Android 12 upgrade for its phones from December for phones in the Netherlands and Belgium. The Find X3 Pro gets the upgrade first, followed by several cheaper models and the Find X2 Pro.
The upgrade will affect a minority of OPPO phone users worldwide, the manufacturer says. The manufacturer claims to have 440 million users of its Android skin ColorOS, while the upgrade comes out for 110 models, together good for 150 million users.
On the release schedule, the 2.5-year-old Reno 10x Zoom is the oldest phone. It appeared in Pricewatch in April 2019. Other models from the manufacturer’s era such as the Reno, Reno2, Reno2 Z and Reno5 phones are not on the list. However, the Reno4 and Reno6 devices are on the list for an upgrade. Also cheaper models like last year’s A31 are missing.
OPPO inherits many of the features of Android 12 in its ColorOS12, including the Privacy Dashboard, microphone and camera usage indicators and the use of a non-precise location if users want it. In addition, OPPO says it stores data on servers physically close to users, “stored in a non-plain text format and sent using a proprietary protocol.”
