TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Qualcomm just released a wearable chipset Snapdragon W5 and W5+ Gen 1. It doesn’t take long, we now know the first smartwatch to be powered by the two new platforms. One of them, for the Snapdragon W5, will be used by the Oppo Watch 3 and will be launched in August.
The information comes directly from the Associate Vice President and President of IoT Business Oppo, Franco Li. He refers to the Watch 3 as a series, presumably more than one model, but at least one of them marks the debut of the W5 platform in a real product.
It is not yet known whether the product is marketed globally or not, but it is hoped that the product will circulate in many countries. In addition to increasing competition, it is also to prove claims Qualcomm about battery life and performance W5 and W5+ do.
Mobvoi will follow Oppo with its next-generation flagship smartwatch TicWatch, set to launch this fall. The as-yet-unnamed TicWatch is expected to be called the TicWatch Pro 4, and will be the first smartwatch to use the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1. This information also comes directly from the company itself, in this case directly from Mobvoi CEO Zhifei Li.
There are no other official details about these two upcoming product lines, but previous rumors claim there will be three Oppo Watch 3 models, all with a tall screen-to-body ratio and square design, and will be offered in black, silver, gray. dark ash, and light gold.
