This time we will talk about the Smart Stylus Pen first.
In accordance with our promise in the OPPO Pad Air review, we will discuss more about the accessories compatible with this OPPO tablet in another article. And this time there is the Smart Stylus which has its own uniqueness.
Lightweight without internal battery
The stylus for the OPPO Pad Air sold at the OPPO Store is quite light. Made of thin aluminum material with a tip that can be replaced if damaged due to long use.
Interestingly, this capacitive stylus doesn’t have an internal battery, so it feels much lighter than we imagined. That is, there isn’t even a port for the charger.
To power up this stylus so it can be used right out of the box, we only need one AAAA battery. Small battery. When we connect this AAAA battery to the stylus, through the opening in the back, the stylus will feel a little heavier and that’s good because it adds bulk when we scribble on the OPPO Pad Air’s screen.
Don’t worry, this AAAA battery is included in the retail package. So, you don’t need to buy this battery anymore for the first time use. Interestingly, this battery can last a relatively long time, so you don’t need to replace it often.
The downside, since there is no indicator, you may find that the battery is running low when the stylus is not working normally.
The second drawback may lie in the buttons on the stylus. When we tried the stylus in different applications, this button worked. But when we try it with a new stylus on a different OPPO Pad Air, and also on different applications, this button seems to have no function. We will update this article in the future.
Backup pen tips
In addition to getting one AAAA battery, we also get a few extra pen nibs. There are two spare tip pens we can get from the retail package. Accompanied by a pen tip for a pen tip that is no longer used.
Pressure and angle support
For those of you who enjoy drawing, or at least who have signed electronic documents via tablet or mobile phone, you will obviously appreciate the stylus which supports several things that make it feel like a real ink pen. And for us it is pressure aka pressure and angle or angle.
Because we need to understand that an effortless pencil stroke will be different than when we press it harder on paper. Even when drawing a sketch, sometimes we need a touch of the edge of the pencil tip, and this angle will create an interesting and different stroke effect with each slope.
Now you can achieve these two things with this Smart Stylus. Especially when we choose the type of brush that requires accurate pressure and also the angle of the image. Some time ago an illustrator who demonstrated the capabilities of this stylus said something similar. He is mas Mochammad Taufiq alias Emte.
Interestingly, while it cannot be said to be very responsive, there is hardly any lag when we swipe this pencil across the screen. Only about zero point zero for a few seconds it can be said capable of providing comfort to its users.
Price
This Smart Stylus Pen at the OPPO Store is being sold for IDR 699,000 with a strikethrough price next to it, which is IDR 799,000. It could be that, at the time of writing, there was indeed a discount of around Rp. 100,000 as part of OPPO Pad Air’s initial sales campaign.
