OPPO is investing more and more in the smartphone market, so much so that it is considered one of the major producers in the Chinese market. And the company has also been looking to expand into new markets, in order to reach new users and a wider audience.
And now there are new rumors about what the company may have been preparing for the times ahead. According to some sources, OPPO may be planning to join the list of companies that will create their own dedicated chips for their devices.
According to the leaker Ice universe, OPPO is reportedly in talks with some manufacturers to start producing dedicated chips for their devices, which would be used for the company’s future smartphones. This idea, however, will only see the light of day in 2024.
However, several sources point out that the development of this chip is currently in a very advanced stage, and that it is possible that some novelties will emerge in 2023. Although it is still too early to leave details, the new chip is expected to be developed by MediaTek and it will have an integrated 5G modem, being manufactured in 4 nm by TSMC.
OPPO’s dedicated chip is believed to be used first in the company’s flagship devices, possibly within the Find X and Find N lines. It should be noted that more models may use the company’s dedicated chip, taking into account that the brand is directly affiliated with others such as Realme and OnePlus.
In any case, many details about this new chip are still unknown. Despite its advanced development, the first details are expected to start emerging later this year.
