HP shipments in Indonesia are down

Overall, the HP market in Indonesia experienced a 6% decline compared to the third quarter of 2020. This was due to a surge in COVID-19 infections. Even so, Counterpoint sees consumer demand showing signs of recovery in Indonesia towards the end of Q3 2021,

This recovery occurred thanks to the continued easing of the daily COVID-19 figures and economic activity returning to normal. However, the prospects for the growth of the HP industry in Indonesia in the near future will be influenced by supply uncertainty.

Counterpoint Research Analyst Paula Ruth said the contribution HP 5G to total HP shipments jumped from 7% in Q2 2021 to 14% in Q3 2021. He sees an increase towards the end of Q4 2021 and beyond.

The increase is inseparable from Indonesian cellular operators who have started preparing for 5G commercialization by holding 5G showcases in various major cities in Indonesia.
