Technology.idJakarta – Oppo Indonesia assures that its Pad Air tablet will be available soon in Indonesia.
For the Indonesian market, the Chinese cellphone vendor is looking to introduce this tablet device at the end of the upcoming fourth quarter, beginning of December 2022 to be exact.

Regarding the delay in entering the tablet market in the country, Oppo Indonesia has admitted that it has encountered problems related to the domestic content level (TKDN) regulations.
“It took a long time to bring the Oppo Pad Air to Indonesia because there were several problems, one of which was the import value and TKDN issue,” said Aryo Meidianto A, PR Manager for Reno, A Series & IoT, during the Oppo Pad Sneak Peek Water in Jakarta on Monday (11/21/2022).
Aryo explained, the government is targeting all smartphone devices to be produced domestically starting next year. This is considered quite difficult for handset makers including Oppo.
“There are a number of problems that the Oppo Pad Air faces, mainly because the price is low enough, so we can’t use the TKDN software scheme,” he added.
“So when we make (production) we can’t in a short period of time to convert smartphone factories into tablet factories. Therefore, we can only officially announce the Oppo Pad Air in the fourth quarter of late or early December,” Aryo continued.

The impact of the new TKDN regulation also affects the presence of the Oppo Pad Air variant in Indonesia. This tablet is only available in the WiFi-only variant.
“These tablets not mobile. Because if mobile, it will be even more problematic to deal with the TKDN. We are trying to bring this device to Indonesia as soon as possible,” concluded Aryo.
Ahead of the official launch, the company will hold an initial registration session via Oppo’s website for consumers interested in owning this device via the Register Your Interest program.
Oppo is very optimistic about the acceptance of the Pad Air in Indonesia, in addition to being the first Oppo tablet device in Indonesia, the interconnection of the devices will be an interesting thing for consumers.
