Free Papua Organization (OPM) accused the TNI-Polri apparatus of carrying out a large-scale attack operation in the Ilaga area village, Puncak Regency, Papua, on 15-16 May 2021. They said the attack was carried out using three Air Force helicopters.
“TNI-Polri troops with full strength equipped with special forces called Satan Forces attack local residents in Ilaga,” said OPM spokesman Sebby Sambom, spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) in a written statement, Monday (17/5).
Sebby also said that the TNI-Polri also released 40 rocket bomb attacks on a number of TPNPB-OPM headquarters, including a number of honai houses belonging to residents who were also hit by bomb blasts.
“Meanwhile, the TPNPB-OPM troops have not yet been killed by the death threat,” he said.
Sebby said hundreds of residents fled to villages that were considered safe in recent times.
Regarding this accusation, the Head of Information for the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kapen Kogabwilhan) III Colonel Czi IGN Suriastawa claimed the news was untrue. However, he did not elaborate on the security conditions in Ilaga.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Nemangkawi Operational Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Iqbal Alqudusy, stated that the TNI-Polri had never burned the residents’ village areas. He accused the party who often carried out these actions of being from the KKB.
“The TNI-Polri did not burn the villages. From Beoga to Ilaga, the one that burned the school teacher’s housing was the KKB,” said Iqbal.

In the last few days, the escalation and armed clashes between the TNI-Polri and KKB have increased in the Ilaga area. Finally, the incident occurred in the Mayuberi bridge area, Ilaga, Papua on Sunday (16/5).
According to the official statement of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Operation, at 04.12 WIT, the TNI-Polri managed to shoot three terrorists who were members of the Lekagek Talenggang terrorist group. In this action, two people died and one person fled with a shot.
In the post-shooting search, officers found evidence in the form of 2 bodies of terrorists, 1 organic weapon type 7.62 moser, 1 HT, 17 rounds of ammunition, and 4 bullet casings.
