“Opinions Divided: Peter Bosz’s Interest in Coaching Ajax Too Flashy?”

| by Jesse Ter Haar

Wim Kieft is of the opinion that Peter Bosz has expressed his interest in talks with Ajax too flashy during the past week, he says at Veronica Offside. Dick Advocaat, in turn, sees Bosz as a suitable candidate for coaching at Ajax.

The content of Ajax’s football axis soon seems to be largely completed. Jan van Halst normally joins the Supervisory Board, while Sven Mislintat looks set to become the club’s new technical director. ‘The next step is Peter Bosz. I’m not sure if he wants to’, says Kieft with a wink in response to statements made by Bosz. ‘You can speak up and put them under pressure, but you can also go too far in your application. He’s been in all the programs now.’

Incidentally, ADO Den Haag coach Dick Advocaat does believe in Bosz as coach of Ajax. After all, during his season at Ajax, the coach impressed Advocaat. Yet there seems to have been no contact between club and trainer for the time being and Lawyer can think of a reason for this. ‘The fact that he is not joining Ajax now may be due to the doubt that he has not won any prizes. It also depends on what Ajax itself wants. If they want a Dutch trainer, they have little choice.’

At the same time, the appointment of Sven Mislintat as technical director of Ajax is up in the air. The lawyer knows little about the driver’s work and therefore has his doubts. ‘It is a very strange story that you arrive with a scout who has not yet achieved anything. They now need someone who knows where to get the right players, because something has gone wrong in the past year. He seems to have a good name, otherwise Ajax won’t take him, will he?’

Van Halst on the Supervisory Board

Finally, Wim Kieft discusses the nomination of Jan van Halst by the Supervisory Board. The former striker knows him well, but doubts whether he is the right choice. ‘I’ve known Jan van Halst for a long time and I think he’s a really nice guy, but I had hoped that Ajax had attracted a really big name. You have Patrick Kluivert, Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids and the two De Boers. I would have thought of that earlier, also for the exposure.’
