The International Olympic Committee (IOC) sanctions imposed against Russia are a humiliation. This opinion was expressed by rhythmic gymnastics coach Irina Viner, speaking at the forum “Gambling: contributions to sports.”
“Our athletes are separated by a red line, there is a hunt for wolves and puppies,” says Wiener, as quoted by “Starhit” She is sure that Russian athletes have nothing to do at international competitions if the Russian Federation is treated with such a humiliating attitude.
“Why are we going if there won’t be a single fan there who will raise the flag and chant the words of the anthem? Why, why should we humiliate ourselves?” — noted Wiener. According to her, her players will not take part in the Summer Olympics, which will be held next year in France. “I believe that our country should not tolerate such humiliation. Look, they removed the Paralympians, it’s a shame, it’s ordinary fascism. The mayor of Paris said: let them come as refugees. My children won’t do this,” Wiener concluded.
She emphasized that the time will come when everything will change, and Russian athletes will stand on the podium listening to the anthem of their country. “I think we will ensure that our flag continues to rise,” the coach noted. “I was recently in the Far East and thought, by the way, that we should move there gradually, all our friendly countries are there,” added Wiener.
Let us remind you that earlier the IOC decided to admit Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as a “refugee team”. The Russians will perform in a neutral status and under the flag of the committee.
