Regarding attempts at foreign interference, technology companies cooperate with each other, as well as with independent authorities and specialists, to dismantle networks that seek to manipulate and interfere in the elections of countries through digital means. For example, in 2020, Facebook and Twitter collaborated to eliminate a Russian network targeting American citizens; and days before the last presidential elections in that country, Facebook removed an Iranian network thanks to a report from the authorities. In Latin America, during the last three and a half years, more than 15 coordinated inauthentic behavior networks (CIB) targeting countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Honduras and Mexico have been detected and removed, some of them as a result of collaborations with authorities.
