Operators T-Mobile and Vodafone attacked the 5G frequency auction in court

The expected legal battle over the conditions of the 5G frequency auction has begun. Operators T-Mobile and Vodafone sued the Czech Telecommunication Office (ČTÚ) for them, found out by the ČTK agency.

According to their statements in the lawsuits filed with the Municipal Court in Prague, T-Mobile and Vodafone claim that the conditions contain illegal state aid and that they do not comply with EU regulatory rules for telecommunications.

O2 operator earlier (before the announcement of the final conditions of the auction) challenged the complaints regulator’s action against the European Commission. According to their statements, T-Mobile and Vodafone are also preparing for further legal steps.

5G frequency auction (in the 700 and 3500 MHz bands) announced by the CTU at the beginning of August and applicants can apply until the end of September. The Office insists that its conditions are in accordance with the rules.
