If we told you that it would be possible to hack our brain like a hacker would with a computer, you might tell us that this kind of thing only happens in sci-fi movies. And yet! This will indeed be possible by sheer force of thought. It is even scientists who affirm it: there are indeed ways to condition yourself to be happier and more fulfilled. As reported GQin order to increase our happiness, the cognitive neuroscientist In Wisesuggests using what she calls “operational intelligence”. The latter would change the way we perceive our self-esteem. According to the expert, this would simply require change his way of thinking by getting rid of all parasitic thoughts imbued with negativity. In order to illustrate his theory, Nan Wise suggests referring to the following example: if you are unhappy with your physique, you may think that all you have to do is take up sports and lose weight to be finally happier, when in fact it will not be. All it takes is an unexpected event for you to revert very quickly to your old habits that will make you feel bad again.
Operational intelligence: what does it consist of?
The advantage of “operational intelligence” being that it will make it possible to turn these problems into opportunities, making the outlook more positive. You will approach things completely differently: “I love my body and I want to move it in a way that makes me feel good. I consciously decide to love my body as it is and to be happy in my body.”
All your decisions will therefore be motivated by this desire to do you good and to work on your happiness. This vision of things will allow you, for example, to consider eating healthier to lose weight, practicing a sport you like, meditating, whereas before, you would have rather been in a process of eating less, starving yourself and killing yourself in the gym.
A change of approach ultimately that can make you feel better over time. Note that operational intelligence applies and functions as much in work as in managing your relationships with others, your friendships… It’s up to you to make the effort to adopt a new perspective on things and on life in general.
