Operation Sky: 2,000 suspects unmasked after crime telephones hacked | Inland

The case erupted half a year ago with house searches in 200 places in Belgium. An announcement followed that the police had managed to crack encrypted phones. A billion messages sent by criminals to each other ended up in the hands of the judiciary.

It now appears that 2,000 suspects have already been identified, of whom 360 have been arrested. There are 268 criminal investigations in which the leaked messages are being used. The majority of these, 192 cases, are new files thanks to the squat. Thanks to the information, 32.5 million euros has already been seized, according to the federal prosecutor.
